The trail was very clean and well marked except for a few places where I had to backtrack a few feet. At rivr point I was sure the information I got off the internet was terribly wrong. A couple miles later we stopped near campsite 2C to fill our water bottles with fresh cold creek water.
Cut down on the extra weight and just enjoy the calming sounds of nature. Every part of me wanted to sit and relax here by a fire while watching the sun go down over the river.

For those trying to spend their first night at seaton campground the first night of ur arrival do not go by the website!! This adventure is relatively new. Get off the couch and put Manistee County and our trails your list of things to do this year. The Manistee River Trail is a level and easy hike that skirts the river bluff providing backpackers numerous opportunities to gaze down at the Manistee flowing through horseshoe bends.

Ashleigh on September 14, at 2: Next time plan to do the whole loop. Many people hike this throughout the year, but some of the best hiking is in the fall when peak color hits the Udell Hills in the distance. Although there are no designated camp sites on this section of trajl North Country Trail or the Upper River Road, people manostee created sites that work well. The red bridge Coates Hwy bridge was still closed so I was unable to complete the entire loop trail.

This amazing peak tops out at 1, and provides incredible view over the Udell Hills. That is really cool. This trail can be done easily in two days, giving you enough time trai stop and enjoy the views and river along the way.
Easily one of the best backpacking trails in Lower Michigan.

If you can make it to Slagle Creek Road, you will find a set of great primitive campsites that are perched high atop the banks overlooking the Manistee River. Brandon Jensen on October 5, at 2: Oct 27, 2 6.
The river is beautiful, you hike up and down ravines, and you can camp over looking the river. My suggestion would be to save yourself the trouble of going through the overgrown trail and just turn right after crossing the bridge. Just under two hours north of Grand Rapids, Michigan, the nearly one million acres of forestland are teaming with wildlife, wildflowers, and every kind of mushroom and fungi imaginable.
I would do it again in the fall. From here the trail starts to get significantly more hilly in the 2nd half of the MRT. Oct 12, The Turtle Hospital: We went in late April when it was high 60s and it was really crowded.
