Most importantly, he explains in an understandable fashion how sin works within us. This may be so obvious that it is not worth mentioning, but I believe that the gravity of the subject makes it especially commendable. View all 3 comments. The majority of this chapter is spent expositing Romans 7: When the flesh gets a person to the point that he can sit under the teaching of the Word, and even delight in it for its intellectual beauty, yet not be withinn, he has snuffed out the wick of his first love.

I have a very good friend in our church who has created a very helpful leader’s guide for this book. Jan 01, Lexi rated it it was ok. Lundgaard lists seven buckets of ice water that the flesh dumps on our first love: In spite of some praiseworthy strengths, this book is not without notable shortcomings. Lundgaard would do well to go back to those final chapters and plumb Owen for a little bit deeper explanation of the final six points under “Siccing Christ on Your Sin”.
